Comon.dk visited Roskildefestival and made a short feature on the Confession Toilet. Well done, Jakob!

ituroskilde.jpgThe KomIAlt newsletter from the Alexandra Institute Knowledge Network for Pervasive Computing, has an article about the ITU@Roskilde concepts. The KomIAlt (from “Computers In Everything”) network focuses on the development of computers from office equipment to embedded (or pervasive) devices. Thus, it is interesting that they view the ITU concepts not only as mobile, but as a part of this development.

roskilde-borat_261550d.jpgYet another newspaper website (Ekstrabladet.dk) yet another service that reminds us of a well known ITU@Roskilde concept (Tidsfordriv). You may say that these services are fairly generic and can be seen as a product of our time, rather than the minds of our brilliant students. But the editor of this blog knows better that that :o) And again, the ITU service has a twist, since it does not present the mobile videos as the actual idea, but use mobile video in the true spirit of Roskildefestival by letting people share their favorite pass time activities in the camping area.

The idea behind Roskilde Rates is that festival guests should be able to make themselves heard. To voice their opinion bout the music they just heard, via their mobile phones. Why should the reviewers from the big newspapers be the only ones to have an opinion? The need for such a service was actually discovered by the Roskilde Rates team in 2006 in their sociological studies amongst festival visitors. It now seems that the idea was actually so powerful, that a very basic light version was launched by the Danish Newspaper, Metro Express, in their festival edition called Festival Globe. Some people may think that it is a coincidence that Festival Globe launched a project similar to Roskilde Rates on the same festival. But the editor of this site knows better :o) Anyway, Roskilde Rate, with their cool widgets, is just a much better product.

jeps.jpgThis photo is cool - and it is a part of a Group Photo Pool on Flickr.com, created by Jeppe Jensen. You can add your Roskildefestival photos to this pool and make it easier for fellow students to find them…

trash2track010.jpg Honorable mentioning on the Roskilde Festival website may be the closest you ever get to immortality. If you haven’t downloaded a free ring tone to your phone, go do it now. Some of them really suck ind a fantastic way ;o)

Check out the website http://trash2track.com

Or type this in your mobile browser: http://www.trash2track.com/mobile/

This is one of my favorites in the category “really annoying for everyone around you”: Roskildes Helte (mp3)

Off course, I am talking about this screen dump from the iconfess.it/confession toilet. Go to their website NOW (a permalink to each of the videos would have been nice) and see the look on this kids face, when she realises what is going on… Congratulations to the project team. This really is good shit!

Ok! It’s saturday morning and I am submitting myself to the Blue Bunny service. My 3 favs are “Red Hot Chi”, Sort Stue (they really kicked butt on tuesday) and then I am actually out of names. So in order to have 3 bands, I selected “A Hawk And A Hacksaw” purely on the weird name. The interface is not of the crowd pleasing type. The selection box is quite clumsy and the error messages actually are price winning. But the Imity guys newer were crowd pleasers. Too bad, cause they are actually some of the smartest kids on the block. Now I look forward to trying out the service, cause an old fart like me, really could do with some inspiration here. See you in the mud….

This summer - coming to a PC near you! Well, actually it’s not about someone being John Paulin but about John Paulin being a female student, but that just kinks it up!  Stay tuned!
